Plasmids
Project type
Interactive Exhibition
Date
Dec 2020
Location
Beijing
Plasmids are small, typically circular DNA molecules that, in molecular biology, act as vectors carrying foreign genes into cells, enabling processes such as gene cloning and the synthesis of proteins.
In this artwork, the plasmid is reimagined as a 3D-printed sculptural form, inviting viewers to engage in an act of creative transformation by layering it with colored pigments. This tactile intervention becomes both a gesture of discovery and a quiet provocation, encouraging the audience to contemplate not only the elegant architecture and function of plasmids, but also the often-overlooked reality of genetic material waste that shadows the pursuit of scientific progress.
